Byzantine Concert

Byzantine Music Fills the Hearts and Atmosphere of Trikala

May 27, 2025: The nonprofit organization Ambelli, in collaboration with the Ephorate of Antiquities of Trikala, organized on Tuesday, May 27th, 2025, a unique musical evening in the courtyard of the historic Osman Shah Mosque (Kursum Mosque) in Trikala. The event, titled “ANATOLI – Honeyed Chants and Divine Melodies,” was inspired by World Bee Day (celebrated annually on May 20th) and took place as part of the “Green Cultural Routes 2025” initiative under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture.

This concert served as a true celebration of harmony between culture and nature. Within the evocative and emblematic setting of the mosque, Byzantine melodies floated through the air, their ethereal resonance echoing like the gentle hum of bees within a sacred hive. The space was filled with a symphony of “honeyed sounds” and a spiritual fragrance, enchanting all who attended.

The musical magic of the evening was brought to life by the choir and traditional orchestra of the Papastathi Music School, alongside the Cultural Association of Petrochori “Ta Vitsaina.” The performance was further elevated by the stirring solo voices of Paraskevi Chairopoulou and Dimitris Billas.

The initiative is part of the Beezantium project which is co-financed by The Headley Southeast Europe Cultural Heritage Fund and administered by the Balkan Museum Network.
